Our objectives at CIRN are to serve the development of research, theory, and practice related to narrative across various disciplines by the following means:

  • a peer-reviewed, open-access, interdisciplinary on-line journal
  • an annual public lecture by a well-known narrative scholar
  • a fifth Narrative Matters conference in Fredericton, NB, Canada, May 20-22, 2010
  • workshops on narrative practice forthe NB-Atlantic community in fields such as social work, education, journalism, therapy, ministry, healthcare, psychology, gerontology, and oral history
  • a resource centre with journal articles, books, and other resources on narrative themes and approaches in a variety of disciplines
  • special forums on narrative concepts and approaches for faculty, students, and members of the public
  • academic courses and/or modules on narrative themes
  • links and exchanges with centres, institutes, or networks - world-wide - which are dedicated to research on narrative and related topics
  • an online bibliography of books, articles, and other resources dealing with narrative ideas and approaches
  • a noticeboard of upcoming events on narrative topics at the regional, national, and international levels
  • discussion forums for topics related to narrative
  • a network of research associates in various disciplines at St. Thomas University and beyond who employ narrative ideas and approaches in their research, teaching, or practice
